Cuban oregano, two years ago I grew this herb and loved the flavor. Last year I was not able to find it locally and went with out. This year I will not suffer the same fate. The above photo is not Cuban oregano, but it is a charming mustard plant.
So big deal it's oregano, who doesn't have that. Oh no my friends, Cuban oregano is much different in appearance and flavor. It has much thicker leaves that are also variegated. The flavor is much more bold then standard oregano and it pairs with pork incredibly well.
When I have my hands on some oregano this spring I'll be sure to share recipes and ideas for how to use it best. Let me hear from you if you've grown or eaten cuban oregano.
